Protecting Your Child’s TeethTips caring for teeth, caring for your child's teeth children, caring for your child's teeth ageVisiting the dentist if they have a problem is the habit of many parents. A child’s teeth can be examined whenever once in every six months so that even if a small decay in the tooth occurs the doctor will note it and fill the cavity. Gum recession is a common problem with everybody. Regular cleaning of the teeth by the dentist prevents gum recession. Another problem all the young kids face is alignment of teeth. It gets aligned unevenly. This can be corrected by putting braces which keep giving pressure to the teeth and makes it move to the right position. Care should be taken even when the baby is small. Certain habits which when avoided help to keep the teeth healthy. Even before the baby gets the teeth their gums should be cleaned while giving them bath. Do not put the bottle or sucker s in the mouth which will develop a bad habit of sucking something all the time. Take the child to the dentist when he reaches the age of one and ask him to see if there is any chance of tooth decay. Once they reach the age of one they should be taken to a doctor and he will advise the amount of fluoride that can be used. Excess fluoride will increase the risk of cavities and gum diseases. As they grow older they play a lot and participate in school sports and tend to get injured. So teach them to play safe. At the young age itself they should be taught to protect their teeth. |
