Protecting Your Child’s Teeth
Tips caring for
teeth, caring for your child's teeth children, caring for
your child's teeth age
Babies start getting their mild tooth at the end of six to nine months.
These milk teeth fall when they are around the age of eight or nine. Then
the new tooth grows within two or three months. The children should be
taught to keep their tooth hygienically clean soon after they get their
milk tooth. Even when they are a baby and get the milk teeth their teeth
should be cleaned twice a day both in the morning and in the night with
baby tooth paste which is harmless for them. As they grow up they get
the habit of brushing the teeth in the morning and before going to bed.
Visiting the dentist
if they have a problem is the habit of many parents. A child’s teeth can
be examined whenever once in every six months so that even if a small
decay in the tooth occurs the doctor will note it and fill the cavity.
Gum recession is a common problem with everybody. Regular cleaning of
the teeth by the dentist prevents gum recession.
Another problem all the young kids face is alignment of teeth. It gets
aligned unevenly. This can be corrected by putting braces which keep giving
pressure to the teeth and makes it move to the right position.
Care should be taken even when the baby is small. Certain habits which
when avoided help to keep the teeth healthy. Even before the baby gets
the teeth their gums should be cleaned while giving them bath. Do not
put the bottle or sucker s in the mouth which will develop a bad habit
of sucking something all the time. Take the child to the dentist when
he reaches the age of one and ask him to see if there is any chance of
tooth decay.
The child’s teeth should be protected even before it renews .If the milk
tooth falls due to cavity then the next tooth will also be affected. So
brush the teeth for the babies as well with fine soft brush. The bush
should be moved in a circular motion since it will remove the plaque formed.
Children’s tooth paste
can be used after one year. Avoid using adults tooth paste as it contains
fluoride.
Once they reach the age of one they should be taken to a doctor and he
will advise the amount of fluoride that can be used. Excess fluoride
will increase the risk of cavities and gum diseases. As they grow older
they play a lot and participate in school sports and tend to get injured.
So teach them to play safe. At the young age itself they should be taught
to protect their teeth.
